2nd & 7th Grade Dysart
Instructional Design
By using our standards we created a unit that integrates 21st century skills with modifications for the variety of learners in our classrooms. We modified our activities for those who have special needs and provided challenges for those who are more advanced. We focused on CFQ's that are relevant to our student's lives (weather; becoming an adult). All of the activities will help our students to create an authentic project that displays what they have learned throughout the unit. The research our students gather with eventually be put towards their final project for the unit.
Technology Intergration
Students are using technology at their ability level to become not only proficient with research techniques and 21st century projects but also to enhance their skills and conceptual understanding. Students are learning to use the technology and resources that they are given to answer questions that they come up with after completing a KWL chart. Students are combining skills that they have learned in the classroom from all contents and technology to learn.
Assessment Strategies
For our unit we are providing a variety of rubrics to help guide our students learning to ensure that they are achieving success. By using the assessments we have created for our students they will learn how to keep themselves on track with the content that will be covered and organized.

  3. Air and Weather Fun!

Great Essential Question: How does the weather affect us?

I like the noise in the presentation as a "wind" type of noise, right?

Great kidspiration activity. They will love creating their own. Nice student sample and directions to follow.

Like the graph and kid zone website fun math integration.

Is the blog going to be used for the entire 2nd grade or will each teacher have their own.

Liek teh survey use to see if they have the final assessment.

  4. The kids are going to learn a lot from this unit!
You've done a lot of work!

A really fun final product would be to have the kids do their own weather broadcast. You could use a videocamera and moviemaker or a similar program to showcase their "shows" and make them mini weathermen!

  5. I like the blogs you are using to monitor and record what they have learned from the investigations.

Perhaps you could have pen pals or video conferences with other schools from other parts of the country and they can discuss the weather.

I liked the survey at the end to show what they learned. Great job!
